gmの次世代軽自動車は「ビート」
ＧＭ大宇（デウ）は１５日、今年４月に米ニューヨーク国際オートショーで公開されたグローバルミニコンセプトカー３つのうち「ビート」（Ｂｅａｔ）がＧＭの次世代グローバル軽自動車量産モデルに選ばれた、と明らかにした。
ＧＭは米ロサンゼルスで開かれているＬＡ国際オートショーで、「『ビート』のデザインと製品コンセプトを基盤にＧＭのグローバル軽自動車を開発する」とし「０９年中旬ごろＧＭ大宇で初めて生産される」と明らかにしたと、ＧＭ大宇が伝えた。
ＧＭ大宇は４月、次世代グローバルミニコンセプトカーとして「ビート」とともに「グルーブ」（Ｇｒｏｏｖｅ）、「トラックス」（Ｔｒａｘ）を公開していた。
これを受け、ＧＭ大宇は今後「ビート」のスタイルを基盤に都心走行に適した量産型モデルを開発する計画であり、高燃費・高効率の排気量１０００ｃｃエンジンを搭載する計画だ。
マイケル・グリマルディーＧＭ大宇社長は「『ビート』を基盤にＧＭの次世代グローバル軽自動車を開発することにしたのは、ＧＭ大宇の発展した軽自動車開発力が認められたということ」とし「素晴らしいスタイルと優れた経済性を持つ最適な軽自動車をつくる」と語った。
